June Shopping Haul Continued: Health Food Edition

June Shopping Haul Continued: Health Food Edition

A few days ago I posted my fashion haul for June. I bought a few more bits but these were health food related so I thought it best to do a separate post.
So without further ado, my June health haul..

➀ Heath & Heather Tea ➀
I reviewed this lovely tea company in an earlier post as I was given some of the honey & chamomile tea as a gift by a good friend. I was eager to try another flavour as well as this delicious number because it was so yummy it set the bar high so I knew they were good at mixing leaves into beautiful blends.

☞ Lavendar & Echinacea; The ins and out on the new find:
Lavender tea promotes relaxation and aids digestion. Bonus.
It is a perfect ‘any time of the day tea’ due to its lack of caffeine.
The tea bags are not bleached. Big Bonus.
The colour of the water turns a beautiful shade of pinky red because of the blackberry extracts. Perfect for your red/pink themed tea party. Yey!
Like most herbal teas the tea has a lovely calming effect.

➁ Neal’s Yard Wholefoods Bombay Mix ➁
Our parents food tastes have a big influence on our own; one of the snacks my mother used to have quite a lot was Bombay mix. The slightly spicy, crunchy assortment of delights with the occasional sweet. I haven’t had any for a while because, well I haven’t. So I had them. I enjoyed them; but I clearly have moved my taste buds on to new things. One of the things that I used to love the most was the small sweet raisins and these didn’t really have any sweet bits in them. Disappointing. Added to this, I shouldn’t eat peanuts and I would say 5% of the mix is peanuts. Oh.

➂ Meridian Almond Butter ➂
This product leads nicely on from the last. I cant eat peanuts, I love peanut butter but shouldn’t eat it. Make way for the almond butter!
♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡
It is bloomin’ delicious! I normally buy the smaller 170g glass jars of almond or cashew butter so when I stumbled across this huge 1kg tub of the glorious stuff I hauled it onto the pay desk. I can not rave about it more. The ingredients are quite frankly, minimal. Minimal ingredients when it comes to food is great news. The less your food is played with, the better. I have snipped the ingredients from their website and check out the dietary attributes – no milk, eggs, gluten, soy, fish.. it goes on. BEST of all, no nassttyy palm oil. If you want to know more or see more of their amazing range of products, here’s your link.
I can’t wait to try out some of their seed butters – sunflower or pumpkin as I have not seen these anywhere yet.

➃ Neal’s Yard Wholefoods Porridge ➃
Ah porridge, you are so plain and basic yet such a good staple. Porridge has to be about one of the only foods I enjoy plain.. yeah come to think of it, its the only food! I haven’t used this porridge yet but I have included it here as it is one of my staple health food purchases. Why not? Its quick, easy, cheap, healthy, filling, versatile. Have it cooked or part cooked, put it in yoghurt, add it to baking.. I ❤ you porridge and here is my shrine.

Tried and Tested: Banana Muffins with Greek Yoghurt

Tried and Tested: Banana Muffins with Greek Yoghurt

So overripe bananas are considered a victory in my house. It just so happens three of these overripe delights appeared on the kitchen table. This meant I can put them to good use and oh how there are so many uses! My usual go to is banana bread however the last time I made it, a cat snuck into our house and ate it! I’m not even kidding. So I took it as a sign and this time I thought I would make something else. Off to Pinterest I popped and I found this great blog – le creme de la crumb – a great name, I think you’ll agree, and lots of great baking content.

I gave her recipe a go and about a couple of hours later they were done. We found that we loved the muffins soo much that of the 16 we made on Friday night there now only remains 2, and it’s Sunday afternoon. 14 muffins in barely two days… Proud?.. I think so!

Mine didn’t turn out as well as creme de la crumbs, but I have a feeling it’s because my baking powders out of date. Next time, new baking powder and perhaps I will use half self-raising flower to help them along a bit.

Another awesome thing about overripe bananas… They are supposedly great at fighting cancer cells!

If you fancy making something else with your ripe bananas see this blog which has over 50 recipes and ideas. Or do what I do and turn to Pinterest!

I hope you are all having a great Sunday. As you know we’re buying a house, Im super excited and we are getting to the final stages of the purchasing process. There’s a lot to do and it’s kept me very busy sourcing contractors, getting quotes and setting up life insurance! Hopefully we will exchange soon which is going to the the best day of 2015 so far. We decided to spend our Sunday getting organised for the move by sorting through paperwork and clothes. I figure, the less stuff we have the easier the move will be and as the house is a blank canvas I would like to paint a great picture.

I’m going to try and post a blog every Sunday whilst I’m tied up with the house. I will vary the content each Sunday and blog mid week if I have time too!

See you all soon

Loads of Sunday love x

Spring Cupcakes; Baking Session for the Soul.

Spring Cupcakes; Baking Session for the Soul.

What a busy week!

❤ I spent the first part up and down the country with work and then the latter close to home making phone calls and booking necessary dentist appointments for my nashers and surveyors for our new house, finalising details for next weeks birthday surprise for Angus – cant wait! Finally, I spent yesterday at one of my favourite venues for a brilliant wedding, I have posted tonnes of pics on instagram if you fancy a peek at my world. The best thing about it all, was making new friends and seeing old friends for dinner, chats and catch ups and spending chill time with my lovely mother.

❤ Angus was also really busy, he headed off to Wales mid-week to give a presentation and was full of nerves before-hand and came back relieved and ecstatic. So we decided to spend our Sunday morning baking some birthday cupcakes for his mum whose birthday it was on Friday and then watch a film before heading out for a birthday lunch at one of our favourite local pubs.

❤ Baking is so twee and relaxing and you get to eat something yum at the end. We were inspired by Easter as yesterday was such a beautiful sunny day and the wedding I was managing had a real Easter Spring feeling.

❤ See below for the recipe and our method.
